What is Trawl to Trash?
Trawl to Trash is a program where discarded trawl nets are upcycled into trash collection bags called stow bags. These stow bags are created by local commercial shrimpers to earn extra money during their off-season.
Worldwide, worn-out and abandoned fishing gear, one form of marine debris, is a leading contributor to trash in the oceans.
Trawl to Trash stow bags help reduce marine debris in two ways: first by reusing old nets, and second by encouraging people on the water to collect litter in the bags.
How Can I Participate?
