About Sophia Truempi

Sophia serves as the Consortium lead on the development and implementation of the S.C. Resilient Coastal Communities Collaborative Program, a resilience planning initiative spanning several communities in the Salkehatchie River Basin of S.C. Located in Beaufort, S.C., she works with communities to identify vulnerabilities to climate hazards and develop community-identified pathways to adaptation. Sophia also helps coordinate flood risk reduction adaptations for waterways that cross county and municipal boundaries to minimize negative impacts on downstream communities.

Sophia earned a B.A. in environmental ethics and policy from the University of Portland. Prior to joining the Consortium, Sophia worked as an environmental consultant for VOX Global and as a marine science researcher for the International Coastal Atlas Network.
