About Matt Gorstein
Matt works independently and with applied economics professionals at the Consortium’s member institutions to analyze the value of the state’s coastal and marine resources as well as the value of the Consortium’s work. He shares that information with coastal communities, organizations, and businesses. Additionally, Matt’s work focuses on projects that enhance sustainable economic development opportunities in South Carolina’s coastal counties. Matt has been with the Consortium since 2019, and he has been managing the extension program on an interim basis as of 2021.
Matt has a B.S. in economics and a M.S. in food and resource economics, both from the University of Florida. Before joining the Consortium, he worked as a natural resource economist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science in Charleston.
