About Kate Chatman

Kate Chatman is working with Shellfish Aquaculture Specialist Sarah Pedigo on a multi-agency collaboration between the S.C. Department of Environmental Services, S.C. Department of Natural Resources, and the College of Charleston to conduct applied research addressing the needs of the aquaculture community.

Working as liaison between the College of Charleston’s Department of Political Science and the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium, Kate assists in fieldwork and sampling, as well as the consideration of regulatory policy concerning and impacting the aquaculture community.

Kate is from Pawleys Island, South Carolina and earned her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of South Carolina, with distinction in Archaeology. She is currently a graduate student at the College of Charleston earning concurrent master’s degrees in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Public Administration.
