S.C. Department of Natural Resources Director Robert H. Boyles, Jr. was elected chair of S.C. Sea Grant Consortium’s Board of Directors and Geoffrey I. Scott, Ph.D., clinical professor and chair of University of South Carolina’s Environmental Health Sciences department within the Arnold School of Public Health, was elected vice-chair by unanimous votes on September 29, 2023. Both one-year terms began on January 1, 2024.
“The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium supports efforts in research, education, and outreach to sustain the coastal resources that make South Carolina such a vibrant place to live, work, and play,” Boyles said. “I have enjoyed a special relationship with Sea Grant that dates to my days in graduate school, and I am honored and humbled to have been elected to serve as chair of the S.C. Sea Grant Board of Directors. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board, the Consortium staff, and faculty and staff at our member institutions in the year ahead.”S.C.
