Folly 2050: Planning for Water, a six-year update to the City of Folly Beach Sea Level Rise Adaptation Report, was recently published by Elko Coastal Consulting, Inc. in collaboration with the Consortium and the College of Charleston Lowcountry Hazards Center. Consortium staff led the community engagement efforts, developed a Tidal Inundation and Asset Vulnerability map application and a Flood Reporter survey, and provided technical assistance in applying sea-level rise data.
Adaptation actions identified in the report include those pertaining to building codes and zoning, transportation, land management, drainage, septic, and engagement. Contact Landon Knapp, Coastal Resilience Program manager, at (843) 953-2091 or Amanda Guthrie, Coastal Climate and Resilience specialist, at (843) 953-2097 for more information.
Stakeholders met in April 2023 to develop new recommendations for the plan update. Photo courtesy of Emmi Palenbaum, S.C. Sea Grant Consortium.
