National Sea Grant Competitions


Periodically, the National Sea Grant College Program, under the auspices of the Department of Commerce and NOAA, issues Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on special topics. Proposals are typically reviewed at the national level, and funding is awarded on a competitive basis.

Knauss Fellowships

Knauss Fellowship Applications are due at the SC Sea Grant Consortium by COB February 29, 2008 for the John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, class of 2009. Any student, regardless of citizenship, who, on February 29, 2008 is in a graduate or professional program in a marine or aquatic-related field at a United States-accredited institution of higher education, may apply to the NSGO through their Sea Grant program.

National Sea Grant/OAR Competitions

Preliminary proposals are presently under peer review for the following National Sea Grant/OAR competitions:

  • Oyster disease
  • Gulf of Mexico Oyster Industry
  • Aquatic Nuisance Species

Future announcements of competitions will be found here, so please check back occasionally.

Previous National Strategic Initiative Requests for Proposals have included the following research areas:
