Coastal South Carolina Sharks
Speakers:  Bryan Frazier and Carrie Hendrix

Capacity: Auditorium max
Location:  Ft. Johnson auditorium
Components:  Identification and life history of South Carolina's coastal- and estuarine- dependent sharks.

Wood Storks Habitat and Nesting  (Field Experience)

Speaker:  Jeff Mollenhauer
Time:  8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Times may change depending on access area of Heritage Preserve)
Capacity:  20 people
Location:  Dungannon Heritage Preserve
Components:  Hike into wood stork nesting area. Other birds potentially seen include Red-shouldered Hawk, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, and Prothonotary Warbler.  Discuss Heritage Preserves.

History of ACE Basin (Boat Outing)

Speakers:  Al Segars and Larry Rowland
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Capacity: 35 people
Location:  Bennett’s Point (McKenzie Field Station)
Components:  Tour ACE Basin in EV Discovery with historical interpretation, including conventional uses of hammock islands such as phosphate mining.

Location: Bennett’s Point (McKenzie Field Station)
Components: Tour ACE Basin in EV Discovery with interpretation by Billy McCord, focusing on plants and animals that exist in these isolated habitats.

History of Fort Johnson; Roles in Revolutionary and Civil Wars

Speaker:  Russell Horres
Time:  6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Capacity:  TBA
Location:  Ft. Johnson premises
Components:  Great for Lowcountry history buffs. Audio-Visual Presentation followed by walking tour of the area to view historical remains, including powder magazine, earthworks, and remnants of batteries.

Please note:  Reservations are required for all events as space is limited. To make a reservation, contact Kim Counts at (843) 953-9354 or email CountsK@dnr.sc.gov.  Events are free to the public. Directions and what to bring will be provided when participants make a reservation.
